The Last Confession of Sherlock Holmes
by Kieran Lyne
Description
In the dawn of 1891 Sherlock Holmes is locked in a deadly game of wits with the sinister Professor James Moriarty; but events will soon transpire which will question the very outcome of Reichenbach. With Holmes presumed dead, the streets of London are panic-stricken, as a resurrected terror takes hold of the city; whilst in the upper-echelons of Government, a singular, undetectable force can once again be felt manipulating the criminal underworld. The ever reliable Dr. Watson has deceived us all, as he finally reveals the far more shocking events which led to both the return of Sherlock Holmes and his involvement in the suppression of London’s most notorious criminal.

Reviews
"As a huge fan of the original canon of Sherlock Holmes, I often find pastiches to be entertaining, fun reads, but never close to the level of writing of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. With Mr. Lyne’s debut novel we have a new Sherlockian voice which is close to that of the Master.
The story takes place around the events of Reichenbach Falls, the Great Hiatus, and Sherlock Holmes’s return to England. Told from multiple first person perspectives, including that of Irene Adler, Watson, and Holmes himself, we learn not only of the “true” events of the early 1890s, we also learn the real identity of Jack the Ripper.
Yes, I know there are dozens of stories dealing with Holmes solving the Ripper case. Fortunately, Lyne shows us that there is indeed room for another one, and his is one of the best. Impressively, the novel cleverly blends in original stories from the canon such as The Empty House and The Adventure of the Dancing Men. This could fail if the writing styles did not mesh, but when Mr. Lyne incorporates pieces of the canon, it is difficult to see where Doyle’s voice ends and Lyne’s begins.
Some readers and die hard Holmes fans may find a few of the events in the novel to be controversial. That’s okay. This story works and works well. Even if you find some of the twists unsettling, enjoy the novel for its vivid descriptions and masterful storytelling.
I highly recommend this book to fans of Sherlock Holmes, those who enjoy a good Ripper yarn, and lovers of mysteries in general. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed." HP Doyle
