Author Biography

H. R. F. Keating is the author of twenty-four Inspector Ghote titles including a short story collection with a biography of the Inspector, The Life & Times of Inspector Ghote. He also wrote two further Indian books set in the time of the Raj – including one in verse, Jack the Ladykiller, and a series of seven novels about an English detective, Harriet Martens, as well as five mainstream novels too. There are many non-series, stand-alone crime books and two further short story collections, In Kensington Gardens Once and Mrs Craggs, Crimes Cleaned Up. He also found time to edit and write eight non-fiction books and was the crime critic for ‘The Times’ for fifteen years. In his lifetime, he served as President of the Detection Club and was both Chairman of the Society of Authors and of the Crime Writers Association.  He was also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
