Author Biography
Astrid Kari Woll
The interest in crabs was emphasized during Woll’s graduate studies at the University of Trondheim working on her master's thesis "The biology of crabs (Cancer pagurus) in central and outer Romsdal" (1982). Later, in her 22-year career at Møreforsking in Ålesund, important areas of work have been in behaviour, welfare and live storage and transport for crab and other shellfish. Interest and love in the ocean are reflected in her great hobby, underwater photography. Showing the animals in their right element have been of great use in her dissemination of knowledge. As a retiree, she feels it has been a pleasure to work together with Bakke and van der Meeren to gather their knowledge within the covers of the book "KRABBEN.

The crab has followed Bakke though his marine biology education, and he did his PhD on the species distribution and biology in Norway. Through twelve years as a researcher, Bakke have also had the opportunity to work closely with fishermen, fishing companies and other players in the seafood industry along the entire Norwegian coast.
