Author Biography
Vaishnavi Ram Mohan has been writing since the age of six, and her first short story was published in 2001 in the children’s section of a leading national newspaper in Kenya. After publishing several short stories and travelogues in the newspapers, her first children’s fiction book, “Tales from Africa”, was published in India in 2008. She has subsequently published three more children’s fiction books in Kenya: “The Incredible Adventures of Pisho Pencil” (2010), The Case of the Prowling Panther (2022) and The War Against Taka-Taka (2023). She is also the author of two romance fiction novels “Best Laid Plans” and “Stuck Together”, published in 2013. Her children’s fiction titles have also been translated into Kiswahili. In addition, Vaishnavi was the series editor and project manager for MORE Africa, a series comprising 12 English and Kiswahili books for children aged between 5 and 11 to support their growth from early readers to confident readers. In addition to her writing and editing work, Vaishnavi holds an MSc. in Organisational and Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and Political Science (with Merit) and a Diploma in Professional Marketing (with distinction), as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (summa cum laude). Vaishnavi currently lives in Nairobi, where she works as a management consultant and lectures part-time at a leading Nairobi-based university.
