French artist Joëlle Jolivet fell down her cellar stairs one unsuspecting morning, and broke her neck. She found herself completely immobilized in a cast... and began to record her state of mind in the midst of her debilitating pain by creating a self-portrait every day. The metaphoric alter egos she created became a cast of characters – inspired by art, literature, architecture, film and pop-culture. Witty, dark, and yet curiously ebullient, Joëlle’s project is a testament to the enduring power of art and resilience.
