Author Biography
Sergio Mansilla was born in Achao, Chiloé, in 1958. His first years of life were spent in the rural town of Changüitad, on the island of Quinchao. In 1976 he moved to Valdivia, where he studied Spanish and Philosophy at the Universidad Austral de Chile. He holds a PhD in Romance Languages and Literature from the University of Washington, Seattle. Until 2009 he served as a professor of Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Los Lagos. Until 2024 he was a full professor of literature at the Universidad Austral de Chile. He is a corresponding member of the Chilean Academy of Language.
