Street from Above
by Nabiha Mheidly
Description
Street from Above is about a little girl who observes the world of adulthood from her window and tries to communicate with busy, inattentive people who pass the cross line. Reading this story reminds us that children in today’s world are alone; however, one day, they enter the world of busy adults. Depicting a lonely girl trying to find a company is beneficial for other children who do not have such a problem to remind them to appreciate their lives. One of the significant points of this book is that the illustrations are not decorative. To clarify, to understand the story, children must follow both the text and illustrations.

Reviews
"From the top of her window, a little girl watches the ballet of passers-by as she crosses the
street. She sees them, calls them, beckons them, but they don't pay attention to her, busy as
they are with their own thoughts. Grown up, she always has, when crossing the street, a look
up, towards this little girl who may be watching her from the top of her balcony.
The rhyming text accompanies the pace of pedestrians. The illustrations appear as small tables
where the details of the scenes are delicately reproduced. We go from the overall plan of the
street to the close-up on the shoes of passers-by. The sepia colors chosen by the designer are
available in nuances and highlight beautiful contrasts of light and shade. An album of great
finesse and beautiful poetry...".
