Description

Anatolii is a taxi driver, and his wife Lesia is a folklorist, who researches fairytales. They have two children- the eldest daughter Julia and little Bohdan, as well as the girl’s favorite kitty Emma. On the first day of the Russian invasion, Anatolii witnessed a mass evacuation from Kyiv. But he is convinced that everything will end soon. His confidence is transferred to Lesia, but she is afraid to stay in Kyiv at a time when the city is being bombed. Lesia insists that the family leave the city and go to a small village named Antonivka, where they would be safe. But fate plays tricks with them and the village ends up under the control of invaders. The story tells about the life of a young family that has survived the hell of occupation but hasn’t lost its humanity.

Author Biography

Born in 1970 in the city of Nizhyn (Chernihiv region). Graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Kyiv University named after T. Shevchenko. Journalist, writer, screenwriter. Writes in Ukrainian for children and adults. Today, Andriy Kokotyukha is the author of 87 fiction, documentary and journalistic books. Among them are detective stories, thrillers, book series, books for high school students.The novels of Andrii Kokotyukha are being adapted into films. The first film "Dead End" (1998, studio named after Dovzhenko) was directed by Hryhoriy Kokhan based on a magazine publication. Zaza Buadze's film "Red" based on the novel of the same name and scripted by the author in 2017 made it to the Top 5 leaders of the national box office. In total, more than 200 scenarios have been created for cinema and television. Since 2019, he has been working with Radio Kultura as a screenwriter on the projects "Radio Detective", "Evening Lullaby", "Audio Book", as well as on special projects.
