Author Biography

Caio Pompeia is an anthropologist and researcher in the Post-Doctoral Program in Social Anthropology at the University of São Paulo (USP). He did his doctorate at Unicamp, with a period as a visiting researcher at Harvard University, and completed both his master's and undergraduate degrees at USP. He has published, among other articles, “O agronegócio como fenômeno político no Brasil”, in the Revista Brasileira de Ciências Sociais. She has written reviews for the American Anthropologist, the Revista de Economia e Sociologia Rural and Horizontes Antropológicos. She researches topics such as agribusiness, agri-food systems, ethnography, food and nutritional security, indigenous territorial rights, agrobiodiversity, the environment, the state, public policies, family farming, rural extension and food policy. She took part in the project “Traditional populations and biodiversity: the contributions of indigenous peoples, quilombolas and traditional communities to biodiversity and public policies that affect them” (USP/UFPA), and is a member of the Study Group on Social Change, Agribusiness and Public Policies (CPDA/UFRRJ).
