NO LABELS: Men in Relationship with Anorexia
by Derek Botha
Description
In NO LABELS: Men in Relationship with Anorexia, DerekBotha argues that traditional understandings of and approaches to diagnosis and treatment for anorexia nervosa are unacceptable, inappropriate and laden with labelling ways, and thus exacerbate these men's struggles, leaving them dishonoured, disabled, powerless and even more distressed. He presents alternative ways of understanding the nature of their social positionings as well as a more appropriate therapy for them, namely narrative therapy.
NO LABELS: Men in Relationship with Anorexia contributes to meaningful dialogue amongst mental health academics, practioners, students and all who have an interest in seeking fresh understandings of these men and their complex positionings.

Reviews
My small publishing consultancy, Moonshine Media, helped the author to take his manuscript through the production process and out into the wide world. It has become one of the titles I am most proud of having helped publish, because it is an important book.Dr Derek Botha has brought his legal training and extensive experience as a therapist to bear in this book. Academically, it is rigorous (I should know - those almost-800 footnotes and countless pages of bibliography provided me with headaches aplenty.) But more than that, he speaks from a deep place of experience: that of a father whose son struggled with this condition. Working with him on this title, I realised what an important book it was: it is an extensive and solid body of work aimed at arming therapists and others with the knowledge and insight that they need to provide the best care possible for men in relationships with Anorexia Nervosa. To provide a care that was possibly missing in the past.
