In recent years, research on death has made many steps forward: new cases have risen, further inquiries have been made, publications of testimonies of those who have reached the threshold of death and have been emerged to life thanks to modern techniques of reanimation. This book, which represents the only inquiry carried out in Italy on the subject, takes into consideration all available material today, presenting a vast documentation collected in Italy and abroad, compares the case records of the past and takes into consideration even new elements: the experience on the point of death of children, those born blind, those belonging to religions different from ours, those who attempted suicide, oneiric experiences of the dying and more.

The causes referred to are distinguished by great harmony and positivism, but one chapter is dedicated also to certain experiences which present elements of an opposite sign, with reflection and comments which make one understand how, in the end, for all there is grace and illumination. Thus, this book represents an anthology of what until now is known about near death experience and can, certainly, contribute to give us a more serene vision on our final destiny.
