Author Biography

Prem (1965) Poet, Novelist and Postmodern Theorist of Tamil, published his first experimental long poems in 1987 under the pen name Predha, has been contributing regularly since. His published works include 7 poetry collections, 2 novels, 6 collections of fiction, 10 books of theories, nonfictions and film studies. He has been active in Dalit political dialogues and Ambedkarite teaching.

His translations include the Novels of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Meena Kandasamy and Annie Zaidi, play of Federico García Lorca, A Very Short introduction of History and Postmodernism. His book ‘Gandhism beyond Gandhi’ (2013) initiated rereading and fresh debates on Gandhi in Tamil, his book on Maestro Ilayaraja (1999) retains its literary adjective ‘Single theoretical Reading of Music of the Grand Musician of Tamil’ till date. He was teaching Drama and Theater Arts during 1995-2002, he is a Professor in Literary Studies of University of
Delhi.
