An ancient curse has plagued the Austrian valley where Magda lives since the Middle Ages. During Carnival week, children disappear, who, according to legend, are kidnapped by a mountain spirit and never return. When Magda's brother Tobias disappears without a trace, she looks for a way to save him. Years ago, her father's twin brother also mysteriously disappeared, and Magda refuses to accept that the curse has struck her family for the second time.

In order to she must tap into slumbering powers that she has hidden away since early childhood. The whole village believes she is a witch… and Magda fears the villagers are right.
