Author Biography
Jonathan Buckley specializes in garden and plant photography. He has illustrated many books, including, most recently, Sarah Raven’s Wild Flowers and My Secret Garden by Alan Titchmarsh, and he is widely published in newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, The Garden, Gardens Illustrated and Horticulture. || Christopher Lloyd was a plantsman in a class of his own, and was widely regarded as ‘the best-informed, liveliest, and most innovative gardening writer of our times’ (Rosemary Alexander, The Guardian). He wrote regularly for newspapers and magazines including The Guardian and Country Life, and was the author of a string of best-selling gardening books. He was created OBE in 2000 and also held the highest award of the Royal Horticultural Society, the Victoria Medal of Honour. || After horticultural training at Wye College, London University, Fergus Garrett (who is half-English, half-Turkish) worked for Rosemary Alexander of the English Gardening School in Kent, for Beth Chatto at the Unusual Plants nursery in Essex and then for the Sackler family at Cap d’Antibes and Gstaad. He went to Great Dixter as head gardener in 1992 and worked closely with Christopher Lloyd for the next fifteen years. Since Lloyd’s death in 2006 he has combined his full-time, hands-on gardening role at Dixter with writing, lecturing all over the UK, Europe, the US, Australia and New Zealand and, as Chief Executive of the Great Dixter Charitable Trust, moving the garden forward in ever more exciting directions. He lives in Hastings with his wife, Amanda (who is a scientist working at London Zoo) and their two young daughters. And he still finds time for passionate interest in plants in the wild, nature and conservation, rural crafts, cooking, boxing and anything Turkish || Carol Casselden is an award-winning photographer who specialises in plant and garden photography, but also enjoys taking landscapes and people. Carol lives in East Sussex.
