Author Biography
Minna Jarvenpaa is a policy analyst who has worked in Afghanistan since late 2005. She has held senior roles in the United Nations, most recently as the head of analysis and planning at the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), and as senior adviser to Nobel Prize winner Martti Ahtisaari. In addition to Afghanistan, she has worked in conflict and postconflict settings in Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, Macedonia, Northern Ireland, and Iraq. She is a founding member of two think tanks, the Afghanistan Analysts Network (AAN) and the European Stability Initiative, and an associate of the Centre for International Studies at Oxford. She studied international relations at the London School of Economics and Slavic languages at Harvard University.
