Description
A girl lives in the little house out back of a mansion in Punta del Este with her aunt and dog. The owners of the house are Brazilians who summer on the Uruguayan coast. The girl spends her afternoons near the black pool in the garden with the dog, while the aunt tends to the owners and their guests. The dog follows her, accompanies her, cares for her.
With quirky language taken to the minimal expression, a novel combination of registers and theatrical logic, Paloma Vidal skillfully traps us in a suspenseful story between the magical and the sinister.

Author Biography
Paloma Vidal was born in Buenos Aires and has lived in Brazil since she was two years old. She’s published novels, plays, story collections, and poetry. She teaches literary theory at the Federal University of São Paulo and is a translator of Latin American authors such as Clarice Lispector, Adolfo Bioy Casares, Margo Glantz, Tamara Kamenszain, and Silviano Santiago.
