Mister Mouse and his wife would like to have children. She wishes to get a delicate daughter, who will help her sewing, he prefers to get a strong son who can help him with the hard gardening work. They get a son and a daughter, but everything turns out differently to what they had expected!
Through this cute story, Janosch deals with the question of gender roles.

Janosch was born in 1931 in Zaborze (Poland), lived in Paris and Munich and lives in Spain since 1980.He wrote and illustrated about 200 children’s books, novels, theatre plays ... His children’s books have been translated in many different languages and he has received numerous prizes, such as the German Youth Literature Award.
