Author Biography

Serhiy Zhadan is a poet, novelist, translator, essayist, musician, and radio presenter. He was born in 1974 in Starobilsk. Zhadan graduated from the Faculty of Ukrainian-German Philology of H. Skovoroda Kharkiv Pedagogical University. Since 2004, he has been an independent writer. Serhiy Zhadan's literary works have received numerous national and international awards (Angelus, Vasyl Stus Prize, Jan Michalski Prize for Literature, etc.). They have been translated into more than twenty languages, making the author one of the most famous modern Ukrainian writers. Serhiy Zhadan is an active organizer of the literary life of Ukraine and a participant in multimedia art projects. He is a frontman of musical bands "Zhadan and Dogs" and "Mannerheim Line" and a founder of "Serhiy Zhadan Charitable Foundation" (2017)
