Project Hope, organizedby the Communist Youth League Central Committee and the China Youth Development Foundation, was established in 1989. The foundation’s purpose is to provide educational opportunities to children in socio- economically disadvantaged rural China. At its twenty year anniversary in 2009, it had already raised 5.67 billion RMB in donations, aiding 3.46 million students and had built 15,940 primary schools across the country.
