Author Biography

Yuriy Mytsyk is a historian, specialist in sources of historical information, archeographer, researcher of the history of Ukraine of the Cossack era and the history of the church. Mytsyk is a Doctor of Historical Sciences (PhD), Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Honorary Member of the All-Ukrainian Union of Historians. He is the author of more than 30 books, collective monographs, and compiler of the collections of historical documents. Serhii Plokhy – a professor of Ukrainian history at Harvard University, director of the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute of HU. He`s a Winner of Shevchenko National Prise (Ukraine, 2018), 2015 Lionel Gelber Prise for the world's best non-fiction book in English on global issues (for The Last Empire: The Final Days of the Soviet Union) and 2018 Baillie Gifford Prise (for Chernobyl: History of a Tragedy). Serhii Plokhy is an author of more than 20 books in English, Ukrainian and Russian. His books have been translated into Chinese, Belarusian, Polish, Estonian, Spanish, Romanian and Portuguese.
