Author Biography
Retired full professor at the University of Gdańsk and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw. Historian of Scandinavian literature and culture, theatrologist, founder of the Department of Scandinavian Studies at the University of Gdańsk (1970). He is, among others, the author of the History of Swedish Literature (1990) and the editor and co-author of the Dictionary of Scandinavian Writers (1991). Knight of the Swedish Knight's Cross of the Order of the Pole Star (1985) and of the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1995). Honorary doctorate of the Swedish University of Umeå.
