"Happy Naked People" is a thematically united cycle of stories about happiness or rather about what precedes happiness. These are stories about the generation of Ukrainians who had a chance to see the last days of the Soviet Union and the recession that followed it, about those who grew up and became the strogest versions of themselves, in spite of everything that happened to them. It is about how these people live now and interact with the world, in which there is war, and love, and emigration, and Hanoi, and New York, and the dead, and the living, and the blind, and the unwise; and, most importantly, how to be happy with this all.

Author Biography
Kateryna Babkina is a Ukrainian poet, prose writer, columnist, screenwriter, and playwrighter. She has authored four poetry collections (Lights of Saint Elm, 2002, The Mustard, 2011, Painkillers and Sleeping Pills, 2014, Charmed for Love, 2017, It Does Not Hurt, 2021), a novel (Sonia, 2013, a short story My Grandpa Danced Better Than Anyone Else, 2019) and two collections of stories (Lilu After You, 2008 and Happy Naked People, 2016). She has also written 3 children's books (The Year of the Pumpkin, The Hat and the Whale, and Girls' Power (co-authored with Mark Livin), which are extremely popular in Ukraine. Her works have been translated into English, Swedish, Polish, German, Hebrew, French, Spanish, Romanian, Czech and Russian. There are several short movies based on Kateryna Babkina's stories. In 2021 Kateryna Babkina won the Angelus Central European Literature Award for her book My Grandpa Danced Better Than Anyone Else published in the Polish language.
