Architecture, political emigration, art, religion, trade - the traces of the Swedish presence in Gdańsk have many faces. Wojciech Łygaś focused on little-known facts, rarely described before. An outline of the cultural and political relations between Gdańsk and Sweden up to the mid-18th century was created, set against such important historical events as the Reformation, the Northern Wars, Polish-Swedish conflicts and the history of the Hanseatic League.

Author Biography
He was born in 1959. A graduate of Scandinavian studies at the University of Gdańsk, a long-term vice-president of the Polish-Swedish Society in Gdańsk. Author of articles on the history and culture of Sweden, creator of the first Swedish-language website promoting the history, culture and tourist attractions of the Pomeranian region. He has translated several dozen books by Swedish authors into Polish, incl. Peter Englund, Leif GW Persson or the proprietary company Roslund & Hellström.
