Folktales from Igboland is a collection of moonlight stories, both adapted and original by the Author. The book is in two parts. Part One contains the chapters of stories laced with proverbs; some come with songs. The songs have been scored to make them universally accessible. At the end of each chapter is an exercise to tease the brain or as a study guide. Part Two is dedicated to the work of the Non-Governmental Organisation NGO Save Our Heritage Initiative SOHI; the organisation addresses the fading Igbo heritage, causes, and solutions to the issue.

Author Biography
May Azuka Ikokwu is a native of Oba, Anambra State, in south-eastern Nigeria. She was born on 25 May 1948 in Port Harcourt, the 8th child of Chief Godfrey Chibeze Ikokwu (Onowu) and Chief (Mrs) Margaret Nwanyidinma Ikokwu (Anuenyi). She attended Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls School, Elelenwa, near Port Harcourt, and went to the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) before and after the Nigerian Civil War. She later transferred to Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts, where she graduated with a BSc in Chemistry, after which she went to the University of Lowell, Massachusetts, for a Master’s degree in Plastics Engineering. May worked with Monsanto Petrochemicals in the United States before relocating to Nigeria, where she worked with the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for 25 years. She worked in various sectors of the corporation and spent many years in the Petrochemicals and Pipelines & Products Marketing Company (PPMC) before retiring as a management staff in 2003. After she retired from the NNPC, she focused on climate change and established a consultancy offering professional services until 2010.
