Doris Maurer (1951 - 2014) portrayed 8 women of the time of Goethe in 7 chapters, all of them related to two cities: Weimar and Bonn. Johanna and Adele Schopenhauer (mother and sister of the philosopher) form the link between Thuringa and the Rhineland: Weimar was too expensive for them, so they decided to live with her friend Sibylla Mertens-Schaaffhausen, a known expert in ancient coins, cameos - who also leaded a literary salon in Bonn. With further information in "women history" on Anna Amalia, Dutchess of Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach, Charlotte von Stein (the woman who educated Goethe), Christiane Vulpius (Goethe's wife), Ottilie von Pogwisch (Goethe's daughter-in-law), Charlotte von Kalb, unhappy intellectual of her times.
