Johanna and Adele Schopenhauer (mother and sister of the philosopher) form the link between Thuringa and the Rhineland: Weimar was too expensive for them, so they decided to live with her friend Sibylla Mertens-Schaaffhausen, a known expert in ancient coins, cameos - who also leaded a literary salon in Bonn.
