Twisted, Disturbing, Gripping... www.inthenews.co.uk “In a genre which is essentially one big clone war, Darren E Laws had produced one of the few novels worth sitting up for and taking interest in. Nicely plotted, briskly paced, a foreshadowing of an excellent writer in all likelihood, and one that I shall be keeping a gruesomely de-socketed eye on.” Andrew McQuade, GoreZone I read your book..."Wow!" I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm normally a Sci-Fi / Fantasy man - The result of too much Dungeons and Dragons as a kid!! But Turtle Island is well in there as one of the books I just couldn't put down. I was even reading it at home and it takes a lot to turn me off from the PS2!! Is there a sequel? I shall be waiting for it with baited breath. Once again, great book. ----Andy Doran Just wanted to let you know I really enjoyed reading your book although it did make me squirm in parts ! Let me know if you release anything else. ---Claire Hepton The book is excellent, really gripping stuff. I am thoroughly enjoying it and I desperately want to know the ending. ----George Jolly Congratulations on your fantastic novel, I'm addicted !!!! I have nail marks all through the pages I have read where I have been gripping the book that tightly!! I look forward to reading your future work. ----Emma J Baker I have finished 'Turtle Island' and I thought it was brilliant, I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Let me know once the sequel is published! ----Lynda Swales Full of suspense and intrigue. Very well written. "A peaceful haven, now turned to fear, a body washed ashore up the river." This is exciting and full of intrigue. ----Valerie Boggess You got style, sexual choice, atmosphere, time and POV in the same first sentence. A Dick Frances touch. Very professional. ----Mary Dresser A web of deception, entwined with a depth of sensual sex undergoing a great murder mystery. Great. ----Joyce Rapier You have a scary way with words. This book is to be read with the lights on. Congratulations. Now I have to go and make sure my doors are locked. ---- Jacqueline Schumacher
Author Biography
Born in East London in 1962. Darren's first writing success came in the mid 1990's, winning first place in a short story competition for a BBC Radio 4 arts program. The thrill of hearing his words read on Radio 4 drove him to write short stories of a dark and quirky nature before progressing to lengthier works. Darren then crafted his first novel 'Turtle Island', a crime thriller, which was picked up by an American publisher. Darren is now a seasoned author with another novel, 'Tripping', a surreal black comedy described as chick-noir, published. The sequel to Turtle Island is now completed, entitled 'Dark Country', and a forth novel is in-progress which is another stand alone book outside of his series of Georgina O'Neil crime thrillers.
Caffeine Nights Publishing
Based in Kent, England. Caffeine Nights Publishing was formed in April 2007. We produce crime and horror fiction in paperback, eBook and apps for all digital platforms. Our goal is to provide a new business model for publishing and for authors that is greener, more sustainable and profitable for authors. We cannot and do not try to compete with large publishing houses, but we want to provide a service which differs from many independent publishers. We have high standards and our acceptance rate is low. We do not apologise for this as we have a brand to care about as well as the authors who we sign. We want to change the industry's perception of independent publishers and we can only do this by publishing high quality, exciting and engaging titles. Our output may be small but our ambition is not. Caffeine Nights Publishing has one goal and that is to produce fiction to keep the reader entertained. Reading should be a pleasurable experience. We want to make you laugh, cry, keep you on the edge of your seat, we want to frighten you and sometimes make you look into the darkest corner of your heart, but most of all we want to challenge your emotions and make you turn the page.
