Chinese Art History From 1978 to 2018 serves as an open window through which contemporary art lovers can see the history of Chinese contemporary art in the recent forty years. The book is edited by a Chinese well-known scholar Lü Peng, and compiled by four young scholars Li Guohua, Wang Yalei, Gao Songyin, and QiaoZhihua. The authors provide an accessible, focused, and much-needed narrative of the development of Chinese art across all media from 1978 to 2018, a time span characterized by radical social, political, and economic changes in China. The three chapters in the book follow achorological order and focus on three main issues in Chinese art: modernization in the 1990s, capitalization in the 2000s, and globalization in the 2010s.Each chapter includes a brief introduction of the historical events and a detailed review of the important artists.
