BLACKWOOD
by Zhao Lihong
Description
The boy Tong met the stray dog Blackwood on his way to visit Grandma. The curious boy wondered how Blackwood used to live and wanted to know more about its loneliness, while the stubborn dog kept confronting people caring about it. During a period of more than a year, Blackwood waited before the gate of the primary school with the same posture every day. Its silent showing up and rapid disappearing created a mystery which turned out to make people both surprised
and distressed.... The fiction depicts love and friendship between people and animals through the full-of-ups-and_x005fdowns life of Blackwood and its bond with Tong’s family transcending generations. Royalty, trust and love—everyone who has an animal friend will be touched; family, protection and company—
every family will show more care for the aging members.
