Author Biography

François Gemenne is a researcher with the FNRS at the University of Liege, where he manages the Hugo Observatory. A member of the IPCC, he is a specialist in geopolitical environmental issues, which he teaches at Sciences Po, in Paris, and at the Université libre de Bruxelles. He is the co-director of the Observatory of Climate Change Impacts on Defense and Security, led by the Ministry of the Armed Forces, and is co-author of the Atlas of environmental migration published by the Presses de Sciences Po (2016).


Aleksandar Rankovic has a background in international affairs and a PhD in ecology. His research looks at the development and implementation of international policies on biodiversity and climate, and on the mobilization of science on these subjects. In 2015, he was a guest researcher with the program on Science, Technology, and Society at the Harvard Kennedy School. He is a researcher with the Institut du développement durable et des relations internationales (Iddri) and teaches at Sciences Po.


Thomas Ansart, Benoît Martin, Patrice Mitrano and Antoine Rio are cartographers with the Atelier de cartographie de Sciences Po.
