Author Biography
Sasha Kochubei is a children's literature writer. She was born in the City of Uman (Cherkasy Oblast, Ukraine) and enjoyed writing since her early childhood. When she was a child, she wrote on everything she could find: on her Grandma's passport, on the wallpapers, on her mother's document and for that she was sometimes punished. Sasha liked learning languages, and that is why she majored in Spanish and English at Kyiv National Linguistic University. Sasha worked as a translator from Spanish and English, as a literary editor in an advertising agency and as a copywriter. Meanwhile she wrote articles for magazines, fairy tales, etc., and one of her fairy tales has won in a literature competition organised by the Sonechko magazine. She thought of becoming a children’s books writer when her son Yaroslav complained that there weren’t many funny books to read. In response Sasha wrote and illustrated the novel Seven Misfortunes of Hovorukha. The book won the Write a Book about Me contest promoted by the publishing house Fountain of Fairy Tales. Other works by Sasha include the essay A Seashell for a Moth published in A Chat for the Girls (Old Lion Publishing, 2016).
