Overview
Scotland Street Press is a Scottish and International independent publisher of fiction, history, poetry and translation. We were founded in 2016 in Scotland Street, Edinburgh, by author Jean Findlay on the proceeds of the US rights sale of Chasing Lost Time – the life of C K Scott Moncrieff, Soldier, Spy, Translator. The company has gone on to publish six to eight books a year, prioritising new and diverse authors, and promotes books through constant live events.
In our first six years we have made a mark and punched well above our weight. We have been nominated four times for the Small Press of the Year Award. Our books have been recipients of the ‘PEN translates award’ and two books have been celebrated as ‘WINNER of the English Pen award‘. Last year we were on the Longlist for The Republic of Consciousness Prize. We may be small and have a tiny output, but our quality of design and content is widely recognised and we are reviewed by the TLS, the BBC, The Scotsman, The Herald, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Sunday Post, The Oban Times, the Orcadian and now by the New York Review of Books.
