Description
When a young girl is found dead in the mountains outside Timber Creek, life-long resident Officer Mattie Cobb and her partner, K-9 police dog Robo, are assigned to the case that has rocked the small Colorado town.
With the help of Cole Walker, local veterinarian and a single father, Mattie and Robo must track down the truth before it claims another victim. But the more Mattie investigates, the more she realizes how many secrets her hometown holds. And the key may be Cole's daughter, who knows more than she's saying.
The murder was just the beginning, and if Mattie isn't careful, she and Robo could be next. Suspenseful and smart, Killing Trail is a gripping read that will have readers clamoring for more Mattie and Robo for years to come. Fans of Nevada Barr and C.J. Box will love this explosive debut.

Reviews
I read a lot of mysteries that have a dog in them and this series is by far the best! Robo is a very present and active character throughout the story. No cutesy POV. The other characters were well developed, too. It's evident the author did extensive research for this book and wove the information seamlessly into the plot. I'm so excited to find this author!

Wonderful story for dog lovers and mystery fans. Great start to a series. Looking forward to seeing how relationship with cop and vet develops. Learned a lot about how K-9's work. Fascinating.

Loved the interaction between the characters. Even though it was a murder mystery, I felt like it was more a story about relationships and feelings. Would like to read more in series.

In addition to the complex crimes that Mattie and her dedicated German Sheppard must unravel, there are several storylines involving Mattie’s painful past and the lives of key members of their rural community. The town’s vet plays an important role, as does his family. There are dramas inside dramas, and crimes that have a domino effect in the community, all of which creates an intricate and absorbing tapestry. Good is pitted against evil, while each of the main characters does their level best to deal with the challenges life throws at them.
